EDGE Outing at Sushi Kanazawa 1st July 2016

A small group of 6 of us from GamerEDGE (Aphrael, Altied, Ken, ResidentHamster, ShadowSaintx and me) pigged out at Kanazawa yesterday. This isn’t your typical Japanese Buffet where we select the dishes we want, but another entirely different experience called omakase, a type of meal consisting of dishes selected by the chef. We arrived at 6.30pm and went on to eat and chit chat for a good 3 hours before we called it a night. Suffice to say, we were totally stuffed with tasty sushi at the end of the day. Here are the pictures of our exploits!

Aphrael, Shadow and Ken

Hamster, Glantor and Altied. The hole above Altied is where our sushi is delivered. Looks like a Halo lol!

Our first platter is super fresh and tasty Sashimi. As it turns out, this is also our only plate of sashimi as the rest are Sushi dishes. Guess that’s why the restaurant is called “Sushi Kanazawa” and not Sashimi lol.

Shishamo (pregnant fish) and sweet corn.

The middle section with seared creamy prawn and salmon is my favourite!

Notice how there are exactly 6 pieces of each variety? The middle is NOT my favourite lol.

Salmon Hand rolls

All the sushi was fresh and QQ. I like how the egg roe bursts in your mouth.

Nicely seared

The shop got a little busy at this time as it was a Friday night, so the service started to slow down and the portions got a little smaller.

However, quality was still good!

Look at how thick the Tamago (sweet egg) is!

Octopus (Tako). Sometimes there are sushi that a few of us didn’t take, so we played Scissors Paper Stone to see who is the “lucky” one who gets to eat the extra lol.

This is prawn roe I think. To me it tasted bitter. My least favourite dish for the night. Shadow didn’t fancy it too much either. Was entertaining trying to bite down on the roe before swallowing, it is so tiny.

Seared white tuna (thanks altied).

Shell fish. Notice how there are now only 5 pieces the past few dishes? One of us Buay tahan already (cannot eat anymore lol).

Finally, dessert! Pineapple, Strawberry, Lime, Mango, Grape and Lychee. Nice ending to the meal. Notice 6 helpings? There is always room for dessert!

In total, we ate about 33 pieces per person. The meal costs us roughly SG$48.75 per pax, so it works out to around $1.50 per piece (calculated by Aphrael lol). Gamer logic. 😀

All in, the food was alright and the price is reasonable. I believe we could have eaten more if the service staff and chef were a little quicker to bring in the dishes, but we understand it was a Friday night. Perhaps we could arrange another outing on a weekday with fewer patrons and eat from 6pm to 10pm to maximise. Again, gamer logic. 😀

Thank you for reading! We look forward to eating out with you as well, so do come and join us anytime! Meanwhile, here’s how to get there:
